I was worried before kick-off that the international break might have an affect on today's game. Wolves have found some form and in my opinion are playing with a lot more confidence.
The attacking play of Costa, Cavaleiro, Marshall and Weimann is so good to see. When Wolves break with any of these four, chances get created. Marshall is offers a good delivery from the dead ball situation. The way the game was going today, i was hoping to see our first central defender since Jon De Wolf, score an hat-trick, the latter's hat-trick at Port Vale is still fresh in the mind after all these years.
Danny has taken stick from a small minority amongst the Molineux crowd, but today, he and his fellow defenders barely put a foot wrong. It was good to see Batth score with two headers. My only criticism of the game today was the goal we conceded. Wolves trying to play the offside trap, with Doherty player Zohore onside. Lonergan didn't do himself any favours, caught in two minds as the ball went over his head. That aside Wolves looked solid.
What can i say about Helder Costa's goal? if it was score by a premier league player or Lionel Messi, pundits would be drooling over it for ages. His quick feet and his finish was breathtaking.
Looking at Cardiff today, and they posed a threat from long throws and set-pieces, bar the goal, i felt Wolves as a team coped well. A good run breads confidence and a lot of Wolves play was seen on the deck, the panic of long punts down field, or treating the ball as an hot potato was barely seen.
Another good three points and long may it continue!
