A very good win on the back of the cup victory at the weekend. The 3-1 win is all that matters to me. There were so many incidents in the game which created many talking points right up until the final whistle.
Barnsley were happy to mix their style of play, trying to play it on the deck, but at times using Watkins at the main focal point. He kept Danny Batth busy in the game.
I don't think it was the greatest of Wolves' performances as we kept giving the ball back to Barnsley, but to still score three goals is a big plus for me. You could see a bit of an understanding going on between Ronan and Enobakhare. The former already playing well above his years. He helped create two goals and looks so comfortable on the ball.
People can point to the sending off as giving Wolves an advantage, but already 2-0 up, Barnsley still came at Wolves. The goals, Dave Edwards might well feel aggrieved that Hause scored from close range, seeing as he scored the second and third, but big credit again goes out to Ronan for his delivery on the first goal and same for the second and also hitting the post just before after he and Enobakhare exchanged passes.
Back to the sending off, i said to wycombewolf at the time, both Price and Mowatt both went to ground, but Mowatt's challenge was woeful and he deserved to go.
At the time a lot of us were scratching our heads to how the ref could at point award a penalty after Enobakhare was brought down in the area, but in the build up, he pushed a Barnsley player over. It's easy to criticise a ref, but he consulted with his assistant. One good thing about it was that didn't have no bearing on the end result.
Even at 2-0 up and the way Wolves were often lumping it forward, it was coming back at us. It was good to see Wolves get a third and much needed breathing space. Bodvarsson again, just missing that elusive goal, but Edwards in the right place to score the follow up.
A couple of comical moments towards the end. The ball goes out of play and into the Wolves dugout, from where i was, goalkeeping coach Pat Mountain wasn't letting go of the ball, Both benches then ended up in a push and shove contest, their manager then sent to the stands.
The second comical moment was after Wolves gave the ball back to the Barnsley keeper. He picked the ball up and then carried it out of the area and then proceeded to play on, The ref did have his back to him.
It was disappointing to see Wolves concede late on, Burgoyne probably could have done better with Hammill's free-kick that Roberts scored from.
Barnsley did have chances, for me their best spell was in the first half, one header over the bar and Burgoyne called into action to make a save.
A good three points and hopefully our fortunes are starting to change.
