I think today Burton deserved the point and are set up well. In the first half for me they enjoyed spells where on both flanks Wolves allowed them too much time and space. Different people view incidents in different ways, a couple of talking points, the disallowed Wolves goal and the Burton penalty award. The goalkeeper will more often than not get a free-kick awarded in their favour if contact is made with them, i thought the decision was harsh, but understand why the ref called it a foul. The handball against Stearman, ref's this season seem to be cracking down on a player who's hands are away from their side. I watched the game last night between Reading and Ipswich last night, another handball awarded. Referee's need to be consistent.
Since Zenga has taken over, our games really consist of not so good in the first half, and improvement, more often than not, after the introduction of substitutes, today's game was no different. It' too early to judge Gladon, a couple of half chances in the first half, but as with the other signings, it will take time for them to settle. The introduction of both Mason and Bodvarsson had an impact. Bodvarrson wins his fair share of headers, powers forward and is an handful, he made our goal, despite being surrounded by a few Burton players. Prince Oniangue enjoyed the gift on a plate he was given.
It's a pity Wolves couldn't see out the game, but a couple of things that looking back now didn't help, Mason going close, but i can't say i was happy with Wolves trying to run the clock down at 1-0 in the corner closest the Steve Bull lower near SL1 in the South Bank. Wolves for were punished and Burton got what they deserved, a point, but i can't say i was happy with Miller's run not being tracked, too many players ball watching and not being aware of what was going on around them.
It's going to take time for Walter Zenga's side to click into place, chopping and changing the side is more like pre-season in trying to assess and get his best starting eleven playing. One thing that needs cutting out is players going to ground, it's the ref's call, Costa and Coady booked, can't say i agree with the Coady one, sometimes players momentum takes them over. There's also time where players don't release the ball early enough, or choose an option to pass when from my seat you want players to go for goal.
I was impressed with Borthwick-Jackson's first game, looks comfortable on the ball, looks to go forward and will grow during his loan spell. A mixed bag for Stearman, looks to bring the ball out from the back, dealt with the aerial threat that Burton had, but gave away the penalty. Cavaleiro looks like he has something about him, but needs time to settle, a few tricks in his locker, but another player who needs to stay on his feet. Costa is a threat with the ball at his feet and hopefully will learn every once in a while to go for goal.
